2015 Bacigalupi Vineyard Old Vine Zinfandel

Zinfandel Chronicles, November 2017 – 94pts  "Dark crimson in color. 15.1% ABV. Sublime nose of brambly red fruits, plums and white pepper. Full bodied with mouth watering acidity. Big, plush and spicy. Raspberry liqueur, cherry compote, brown sugar and pepper on the palate. The finish is exceptionally long.  Super Zinfandel from a tremendous vineyard. Best over the next 3-5 years."

The nose transports you back to grandma’s kitchen when she was baking pies; blackberry, ripe cherry, vanilla with a hint of graphite and eucalyptus. The flavors are bold yet somehow elegant. Ripe fruit up front; blackberry, dark cherry and then a layer of dark chocolate and black tea. Silky tannins. The finish is warming and spicy and lingers ….. forever. Fabulous! It’s hard to believe this wine can come from those old gnarly vines. Give it three hours to decant for your best reward. No need to cellar, it’s imminently drinkable now."
